Chapters in several areas throughout the country recognized early on the importance of mentoring young women in the community. The first Zeta group, for high school girls, was nationally organized in the late 1960s. Since then, Zeta Phi Beta has developed a comprehensive youth program for girls ages 4-18.
The mission of the Youth Auxiliaries of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. is to provide a carefully designed program of activities that will enhance youth club members through mind, body, and spirit as they work within their various communities to help others.
Following our national organization, Omega Iota Zeta Chapter supports and sponsors all Zeta Youth Auxiliary Clubs: Zeta Pearlettes, Amicettes, and Archonettes.
Pearlettes: Youth group for girls 4 to 8 years old who are mentored by ladies of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. to become outstanding leaders in their community. This group meets on a monthly basis, and participates in social and cultural activities which present opportunities for them to develop leadership skills, personal etiquette, and social skills. In addition, they are taught to always strive to reach their maximum potential by giving and serving with a cheerful heart, loving their sisters with unfailing kindness and treating everyone with respect Membership is granted based on their interest in the high ideals of Zeta Phi Beta.
Amicettes: Youth group for girls 9 to 12 years of age who are willing to strive toward the high ideals of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and who demonstrate potential for leadership in service to the community under the direction of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Omega Iota Zeta Graduate Chapter. Members of this group meet on a monthly basis, and participate in various social and cultural activities. This program will offer the opportunity for the young ladies to excel spiritually, socially, educationally, and culturally.
Archonettes: Youth group for high school-aged young ladies ages 13 to 18 who demonstrate an interest in the goals and the ideals of scholarship, sisterhood, and community service. Among the many purposes of the Zeta Archonettes is to encourage the individual to accept responsibility, develop new interests, work towards creating happiness for others, develop an awareness of the need to share responsibilities and to understand one another in order to achieve a common goal. This auxiliary allows members to develop positively by providing them with opportunities to make responsible decisions, to develop confidence and to relate to their peers, parents, and to adults in general. Under the leadership and guidance of their advisors, members of the Archonette Auxiliary participate in many community outreach programs such as oratorical contests, feeding the homeless, and educational/career workshops. As the young ladies continue to broaden their life experiences by participating in these activities, they embrace the ideals of scholarship, service, sisterhood, and potential leadership in the community.
